Pushing my Limits and Expectations:
The 2023 Season
Review!

Beginning the season without a clear understanding of the competitions I would participate in proved to be stressful. The initial disappointment in Chambery set a less-than-optimistic tone for the senior rounds. However, two weeks later in Portugal, I clinched my first international bouldering medal, marking a turning point in the 2023 season.

Juggling between senior World Cups and numerous youth competitions was undeniably challenging, but it led to some remarkable experiences and big achievements...

About me

I grew up with both of my parents being active climbers and they regularly took me to the gym or crag, making climbing a weekly tradition and a staple for nearly every holiday. However, my journey into competitive climbing truly commenced at the age of nine when I watched the Munich bouldering World cup. Fueled by big aspirations and a lot of motivation, I began training more and more - getting stron.

Along the way, there were a few bumps, including the unexpected diagnosis of type 1 diabetes. Despite these challenges, I was able to compete all over the world and achieving some pretty great results…

Competition Highlights:

  • Vice World Champion U20 (2023)

  • European Champion U20 (2023)

    • Boulder, Lead, Boulder&Lead

  • German Champion (2022)

  • German Vice Champion (2023)

"Typ 1 Diabetes does have its challenges but it hasen't stopped me for a second"

I got diagnosed with type 1 Diabetes in January of 2020, right when I started seeing my potential in climbing and being full of motivation - the news crushed me at first. I was unsure how it would affect my life and what this meant for my sports activities. Luckily there where a few stellar examples of professional Athletes, showing what was still possible as a type 1 diabetic. Reassured and with a lot of help from my Family, I started to learn and adjust to my new and individual challenges. I do believe we did quite well, as I managed to qualify for my first international competition just 5 months later.

Over the last few years I travelled to a lot of different countries and continents for competitions. I had to adjust to my blood sugar changing due to different foods, jetlag and the adrenalin. Throughout these competitions I struggled, failed and learned a lot of different lessons... Lessons and Experiences that I'm trying to share on this Page, to help others manage their diabetes better, and encourage them, that with the right amount of discipline and a bit of patience, Diabetes isn’t holding you back from competing.
